WORKSHOP DESCRIPTIONS & COST:

QUERY WRITING 101 **Due to the time-intensive critiques I offer, space is limited in this workshop.

When: September 9th-16th

Format: Yahoo group, lessons are emailed to the group members once a day for the first five days. Homework is required. The rest of the days are for you to draft your query & me to critique it. You do your coursework around your own schedule.

Description:

 Learn how to write an amazing query letter! Course focuses on basic query structure, do's and don'ts, how to target the right agent for you, and how to identify your basic plot and conflict to use in writing a stellar hook. Also includes an in-depth personalized critique of your query letter.

HOW TO WRITE A KILLER SYNOPSIS

When: September 16th-20th

Format: Yahoo group, lessons are emailed to group members once a day. Light homework is required. Read the lessons and do the homework around your own schedule.

*What a Synopsis is and what it is not
*When to write a synopsis
*Correct formatting
*How long a synopsis should be
*How to identify the Voice of your manuscript & use it in your synopsis
*Which plot elements need to be included
*How to break your plot up into three key areas
*How to identify plot arcs and emotional landmarks
*How to pace your synopsis

PROMOTING A NEW RELEASE: A SIX MONTH PLAN

When: September 23rd-27th

Format: Yahoo group, lessons are emailed to group members once a day. Light homework is required. Read the lessons and do the coursework around your own schedule.

Description: Develop a 6 month plan for successfully launching your book! Customize that plan around your individual strengths. Useful information for debut authors, established authors, and anyone considering indie publishing. Topics covered include:

*Promotion goals & how to reach them.
*Developing a successful web presence.
*Thorough promotional plan from 6 months pre-release to post-launch.
*Helpful tools for any author.

WRITER'S BOOT CAMP

When: October 7th-18th

Format: Yahoo group, lessons are emailed to group members daily. Daily word count homework is required. Additional homework will be required with some lessons. Read the lessons and do the coursework around your own schedule.
